Bread Break

"And Jesus said unto them,
I am the bread of life..." (John 6:35, KJV)

[Lord, I told myself this morning
That I'd make some time for You,
But the kids are due home now, Lord,
And there's still so much to do!
Here they come ~ one pant-leg ripped out,
And their faces caked with dirt]
"What's that black stuff on your pocket?"
[Lord, I JUST washed that white shirt!]

[Who's that knocking at the front door?]
"How did you get my son's bat? ~
The ball smashed your stained glass window?"
[O, dear Lord, do You hear that?!
Six o-clock and time for dinner,
I'm exhausted, Lord, I'm beat!]
"Never mind the baseball bat now,
Get washed up, it's time to eat."

[O, no, Lord, here comes my husband,
Why does this stove cook so slow!]
"Dinner's just a ittle late, dear,
Tell me, how did *your* day go?"
[Now that dinnertime is over
What I'd give to hit that bed!
But I promised You some time, Lord,
So I'll hit Your Word instead.]

"While you're watching television,
Could you watch the kids too, hon?
I have GOT to take a break
And I won't be back till I'm done!"
[Lord, I know You're even busier,
What with all YOU have to do ~
But my man and kids need Your Word,
So could You "convict" *them*, too?!]

"Give us this day our daily bread."

About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
