What Happened?

What Happened?

My heart's breaking for his loved ones
and I'm praying all I can...
God, what happened to him, Jesus?
Lord, what happened to this man?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
He seemed quiet back in high school,
kinda shy and without guile,
After church and at choir practice
he would always have a smile...
Unpretentious, unassuming,
and at least it seemed to me,
He was gentle, easygoing,
not the kind to disagree.
As a man he seemed successful,
some would say he had it made,
Decent home, owned his own business,
no facade, no masquerade;
He seemed genuinely happy
till the time of his divorce,
Then to all outward appearances,
his life soon went off-course.
Don't know what all must have happened,
can't say yet just what took place,
And the questions tend to haunt me
as I picture his kind face;
Something grabbed him, something evil,
and he took leave of his mind,
Rage and fury then consumed him,
leaving sanity behind.
Hid within his brother's house
and waited till he went to bed,
With a knife he then attacked him,
seemed to want his brother dead;
But the man's wife tried to save him,
used her own hands as a shield,
and when done, the entire bedroom
was a bloody battlefield.
Now his name is in the obits
and I'm not sure how he died,
"Private family gravesite service,"
seems they'll all be at his side;
"There will be no visitation,"
so the questions still remain,
Left this world and left his loved ones
reeling in a world of pain.
Lord, I'm clinging to Your promise
that one day in that Far Land,
You'll explain each trial and heartache,
You will make us understand;
And I know Your heart is broken,
this was not Your perfect plan...
God, what happened to him, Jesus?
Lord, what happened to this man?
that shall not be revealed,
neither hid,
that shall not be known."
About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
