Empty Paper

       Empty Paper

A quill lay on the table.
On one end the point had dried.
And an inkwell that once was full
now lay upon it's side.
The sadness in this image
would be difficult to see.
But for the sheet of paper
with nothing there to read.
Twould be a time of mourning
if all the wells ran dry.
With nothing left to pass along.
Nothing seen beyond the sky.
No snapshots of a memory.
No music from the soul.
Not a single line of words that rhyme
to comfort in life's cold.
But nothing stills God's spirit.
And hope forever remains free.
To flow like ink on empty paper
from now to eternity.
