Two In Love

On a hilltop in the country
in the middle of the night.
They sat there in the darkness
holding each other tight.
While they gazed up at the wonder
of the heavens there above.
Softly talking to each other
of their undying love.
"If I go into that great expanse
and leave you here behind.
Would you soon find you another 
or keep me on your mind?"
He turned his face to hers
and held back the coming tear.
"We will always be together
so please let go your fear.
Just as I am here beside you
so I always here will be."
She turned her head to face him
his expression plain to see.
"No one lives this life forever. 
All things come to an end.
Then will come the resurrection
when the soul will rise again."
His words then came with effort
as he fought to form each one.
And his mind remembered promises
made by Christ, God's living son.
"If for a time we are parted
and I feel your kiss no more.
Then promise you'll be waiting
just inside of heaven's door.
For the love we share will comfort
till I also leave this place.
And I'll be in life just waiting
for the time I see your face.
Then we'll dance in joy together
in the presence of the King.
Moving with that heavenly music
as the angels softly sing."
