Looking Back - Then Ahead

Looking Back  -  Then Ahead

When you look back at life, is it all just rosy?
Sure - when you’re little and don’t know-it-all
The world is simple and you’re all nice and cozy,
But wait - you’re running, then stumble and fall.

School work and life are hard but you haven’t noticed.
Parents and others do most of the work.
It happens ev’ry day but you are a novice.
Still, the work ethic is taught - never shirk.

Others teach you by example more than by word.
Maybe pastors and teachers teach you well.
Maybe Christian songs “sing in your head” (that you’ve heard)
And you know you’re saved - you won’t go to hell.

When you trusted Christ, the Bible promised you’d grow.
You do for a while, then you get busy.
You are working, dating, living your life, you know.
“Suddenly” you’re old and feel uneasy.

Your growth wasn’t steady all the time in your life.
Was it because you did become willful,
Took the reins, did your own thing, then took a “nose dive?”
There’s those consequences - a whole cup full!

“But God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor
Light for the way - grace for the trials, help from above
Unfailing kindness, undying love.”

“ I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. “   Philippians 1:6  (Amplified Bible)

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
