The Shepherd
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

The Shepherd

"I am here to protect my sheep."

Said the Shepherd to the howling wind.

And to the shelter of His light

the flock was gathered in.

But when the force against all good

saw one had wandered away.

A call went out from in the darkness.

"Come ye wolves and take your prey."

The end was thought a certain one.

For sheep are sheep and not that strong.

And with glowing eyes and fierce some fang

the wolves would feed before too long.

But the Shepherd's love went far beyond

anything the wolves could know.

He would give His life for even one.

And to that one He now did go.

For a moment all was silent

but for low and menacing growls.

But when the Shepherd's face transformed

there came only mournful howls.

The howls then grew in volume

becoming sounds of a different kind.

Terror then filled the darkness around

as the wolves fell before Judah's Lion.

And the sheep dwelt in safety.
