NOTE:
The RENEGA was created by Alexis Rotella. It consists of ten verses of linked one-line haiku on the theme of betrayal or going back on one's word. Every third verse, at least, must relate to this theme.

A Renega written by Gillena Cox (Trinidad and Tobago) and Quentin Clingerman (USA)

America Under Terrorist Attack 11/09/01
birds of steel in a fire of targeted destruction(gc)
set on a demonic course raining terror on an unsuspecting people thick clouds of despair(QC)
a zillion eyes watch in horror helpless(gc)
infamy darkens the sky rape of a nation's innocence eyes blinded by hatred see only mayhem(QC)
mocking cheers an iota displaced in a sea of grief(gc)
bare girders pointing accusingly at the sky the fault remains(QC)
greiving hearts weave a tapestry from tragedy(gc)
within leaden hearts foreboding gnawing of what is to come(QC)
deep deep deep into the recesses of love lies the hope(gc)
stopping hatred a world turns to God will it be for only a moment(QC)
