"And you, O man of God, flee these things and
pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love,
humility and patience." 1 Timothy 6:11

Speed my soul's legs,
Loosen them, so
To pursue the life
You will for me..

Which is
A life of dawn,
One rising to the Light,
Unsealed of night, and
Be "right" with You.

Which is
A life of awe,
Eyes open to Creation's banner,
Ears open to Creation's orchestra, with
Knees bowed inwonderand worship.

Which is
A life of trust,
A platform for my soul's feet, and
Stand in a fenceless world,
A faith-world, wiothout scaffolds.

Which is
Ai life of love,
Not decayed by "I-ness,"
But ripe with the "other,"
Not chiesled with cold,
But warm with heart.

I turn to the Mount of Calvary and
Beg for the two-fold graces
Of humility and patience, for
Without these, my life
Is a faded mirror of Your Will.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
