Fountain

"(I am) the Alhpa and Omega, the Beginning and End,
I will give to the one thirsting from out of the spring
of the water of life freely." Revelations 21:6

Father,

When the soul's quiet
Is as a rose past bloomimg,
As music from a distant room,
As dust tomb'd in far away memories,
The soul yearns and lomgs,
Seeks and searches --
Thirst.

Yes, fountains there are, many, but
They mock with dead water,
Water without song, man's water, and
Leave the soul with more thirst.

But,
When the soul, if stripped of "ego,"
Meets You, our God,
The Beginning and End of ALL life,
The Alpha and Omega of ALL life.
A claim NONE but You can make,
The soul quiets.

Why?

None offer but You
Living water for You alone are the Source of life;
Destiny water for You alone are the Purpose of life.

Yes,
Divine-Water,
Breathing-Water
Life-Water.

Water-that-quiets and
Fully quenches.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
