Our Father       (Matthew 6:9-13)

Father Creator,

Your Land
Is above all, before all, after all --
All planets, galaxies, and stars;
All dark holes and dark energy,
All matter, time and space.

Yes, You are in heaven

If I may speak with my land's tongue,
All that You are --
Your Thoughts,  Love,  Will, and Being
Are shrined in the sacred,
You are a Living Sanctuary.

Yes, Hollowed be Your Name.

May Your Realm, Your Royal Rule
Of faith, hope and love, reign.
Let this arise, grow, influence all, then
I will hear Your commanding steps,
The tower-ring of Your voice
As it sounds through our land.

Yes, Thy Kingdom come.

May Your Vision for us,
Your choices and purposes for us,
Your comands and desires for us,
Come to be, happen  in our land
As in Your Land.

Yes, Thy will be done on earth as in heaven.

May You grant now,
From the wealth and fund of Your grace,
Aid and help for my wants --
Of body, mind and soul,
The food of eternity.

Yes, Give us this day our daily bread.

May Your Mercy
Wipe my soul of sin
With the Blooded Cloth of Your Son; also
May Your Mercy
Be my teacher as
I learn to forgive others,
As You forgive me.

Yes, Forgive us our trespasses
As we for give those of others.

Do not lead the Adam in my soul
To the bait of self-will,
The lure of ego,
For I am so, so frail
Before the fruit of the world and the flesh.
(I cry out for Your grace.)

Yes, Lead us not into temptation.

Rescue us from
The One-Who-Blinds,
The One-Who-Steals-Joy,
The One-Who- Loves Hate.

Yes, Deliver us from the Evil One

All Power, Honor and Glory are Yours
Now and forever.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
