Unveiled Face

"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,
Are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the
Spirit of the Lord." 2 Corinthians 3:18

Unveil my soul's face,
Lift the tight twisted threads of my "ego,"
It hides me from You, then,
Without screen nor shield, face naked,
I will tremble with awe before Your Glory.
Gift zeal to my soul's restless eyes,
Firm them, point them, so, with Jesus,
I will gaze on Your Glory --
The dare of Your Splendor,
The brave of Your Power,
The rapt of Your Radiance.
The more I gaze on Your Glory,
The more You enter my soul, and there,
Absord all doubt,
Distill all waste, and
Leaven all prayer.
Yes, then my soul will mirror Your Glory,
And, transformed, my soul will reflect
The Glory of Your Son, Jesus,
For He glowed with Your Glory on the Mount,
The Mount of Transfiguration,
The Mount of Unveiling.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
