Open Window

Why am I so discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God. I will praise Him again." Psal 43:5

When my faith
Is as a rain-washed path, and
When my soul
Hides in a shutter blind room --
A God-Widower,

Grace my soul
To open it's window
To the Electric of Your world, and

Blend my soul
With Your Energy, and
Fuse with Your Push, so that
This mix will fuel my will, and
Open the window of my soul
To see the Light of Your Will -- Peace.

Warm my soul
With Your Fervor for me,
Your Passion for me, and
Stir the ashes of my belief to fire,
Inflame my faith, and
Open the window of my soul
To let in the Warmth of Your Will -- Peace.

Feed my soul
With Your Power
That heals my broken images,
That lids my lidless eyes,
That shelters my raw faith, and
Open the window of my soul
To hear the Promise of Your Will -- Peace.

I am not just a handful of dust
But Your desired-one;
I am not nameless,
You know my name, so
With Your Touch and Voice and Look
Lift the glass beteen You and I.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
