"...we have been born anew to a living hope through
the Resurrection of JesusChrist from the dead ...." 1 Peter 1:3

I row
Through the fierce waters of loss
Not with bare hands, but
With hands joined to Your Hands,

Not with stubborn grit,
Heavy with the sands of sadness, but
With the heave of hope,
The pull of Your Rope, Father.

Wen the pain of loss
Bucks with anger, and
The hot tongue scolds all,
It is to Jesus, Hope's Guide, turn --

His prayer:
"My Father, if it is possible
Let this cup pass from me; yet,
Not as I will, but as You will."
Matthew 26:39

Loss forms into an egg, and
When cracked by acceptance,
New life is born -- peace.

Easy? No!
But, with grace, it works.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
