The Flesh's Assault
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

The Flesh's Assault

Sometimes a whisper, other times a shout,

The flesh is quite active,

Always tempting with doubts.

Ready to steer me down sin's darkened path,

Suggesting retorts, demanding its way,

Cajoling, reminding me of God's judgment day.

Quick to accuse, quicker still to cause guilt,

Building up strongholds,

Of sandcastle truth.

But then through the hazines, darkness and fear,

My blessed redeemer, my Savior draws near.

His Spirit of Truth flashes brilliant and clean,

Always picking me up, always there to redeem.

As the Holy Spirit leads me,

I cast all on Him.

He'll win each encounter with day's daily sin.

Yes, the battle is daily,

Through His death I'll gain life.

As I learn to die with Him,

Ending each moment's strife.

About the Poet
I've been a Christian for over 40 years and am continually thankful for Jesus' friendship and care. I'm married and have three grown children. I also have two grandsons and three granddaughters. Praise God! My prayer is that God would use these simple poems to encourage you in your walk with the Lord.
