When to Pray?

When to Pray?
a double lento

Crying out to God with problems to face

Vying with sleep, my thinking's a chore

Buying back time while seeking His grace

Trying to pray sounds more like a snore

Now begin each new day with praise

Vow to start praying ere time is spent

Bow recognizing distress in life's maze

Thou, Father God - my empowerment

Releasing my prayers all through the day

Decreasing the chance of evil inspiration

Policing my actions, God's will to convey

Leasing the might of prayer's conversation

Ablaze with light, each new moment is born

Praise for God's strength after trust's rebirth

Malaise withdraws in the company of scorn

Thruways of prayer lift me up from this earth

a lento is a set of two stanzas (each four lines) which rhyme abab, cdcd but also use rhyming words at the front of each line, the same rhyme in each stanza.  A lento is sort of a quilt pattern of thoughts on a certain theme; each line pretty well stands on its own.  Double lentos have four stanzas; Triple lentos have six. This form was created by Lencio Rodrigues..

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
