Modus Operandi

a paradelle (see below)

Jesus promised to give us

Jesus promised to give us

His Spirit to teach all truth

His Spirit to teach all truth.

Teach Jesus to us, Spirit,

give His truth promised to all.

Trusting hearts display true worth

Trusting hearts display true worth

with thoughts, words and deeds aligned

with thoughts, words and deeds aligned.

True thoughts display words and deeds

aligned with hearts worth trusting.

When we love our ways of sin
When we love our ways of sin
truth through Christ we can not show
truth through Christ we can not show.
When we love the ways of Christ
we can not show truth through sin.

True hearts display love through deeds.
Trusting not to sin, we teach
our Christ with truth all-aligned.
When we give worth to Jesus,
His promised Spirit can show
us thoughts, words and ways of truth.

written by Reason A. Poteet

a paradelle:  in each of the first three stanzas, lines one and three repeat in lines two and four for emphasis.  For each stanza, lines five and six must contain all the words from lines one and three using them only once to form two completely new lines.  Finally, for the fourth stanza, all the words from the preceding lines one and three of each stanza are combined again to form a final new verse.  Repetitive, like a song;  but don't we learn by repetition?

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
