Wants Upon a Time

If we should meet; I pray we do,
it’s first things first I’d want for you.
I’d introduce my Friend, God’s Son.
While I stand waiting - want begun,
I'd be praying that you would say,
"I have just talked with Him today."

Then we'd be promised we WILL meet
some day to make my want complete.
Meanwhile through poetry I'll try
to be the friend who would not pry,
yet would not fail to tell you clear
God’s “wants” upon a time down here.

Once upon a time, I was asked
to meet you as we came unmasked –
before life's tide begins to ebb.
to face your spirit on the web
Hear now of Christ, my new-found friend,
and His forgiveness without end.

I'll share His love if you'll but read
my poems here which tell my creed.
Wait! better still, just read God's word;
find hope in Psalms, the twenty-third.
Meet that Shepherd, who both at once
fulfilled my needs as well as wants.

Now read John three, verse seventeen
no condemnation on God’s scene.
He only wants your soul set free.
Back up, read all of chapter three.
Should you want to meet Him, be blessed,
He'll make Himself  your welcome guest.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
