Passing Thoughts

Today’s papers are posting hard words for hard times;

words  too realistic as our nation’s bell chimes

death – a rickety end  for the entrepreneur,

like the passing of self  for ev’ry believer.

Is there a state’s Easter morn?  Or is it all lost?

Can public healing be had even at high cost?

What would our land lose, if god, Mammon, were to fail?
Wealth serves to divide folks based on a faulty scale.

Do we give clear evidence of which God we trust?

To use a blanket “We” has always been unjust.

Our nation’s motto  is now quite inaccurate;

a  person can vouch only for his own spirit.

Jesus Christ completes and seals my sure foundation;
money’s not a promised part of my salvation.

My taxes pay for things I don’t want to redeem.

I trust not a soul in the government’s regime.

I look at its malfunction as God’s next best chance

to spell out His viewpoint, this point being, finance.

What would give the US true value?  not our name,

not our motto,  not money, not secular fame.

How long will God ignore our cheap indiscretions?
Might He have a goal in using retribution
to salvage our degenerate  “Christian” country?

The Way out can be found in simple carpentry.

The Master Carpenter is the answer, Jesus;

only He can repair sin’s damage and free us.

Let our fortunes die.  Let Christ raise from dead embers -

repentant stewards,  rebuilt from godly timbers

to become that humbled people which God can indwell.

Might He use us to redeem His choice, Israel?

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
