O for Mary, meek and mild,

Who would birth the Heaven's Child.

The Son of God, Victor over the tomb!

Came from that lowly virgin womb.

God made her, like He made none other,

In a special way and called her MOTHER!

Nature bowed and bid welcome to, this One who painted the heavens blue.

He packaged it with emotions of love, a special gift from God above!

Our Lord Himself, on a breast did lay, and sensed His mother's special way.

Girls and curls and all their druthers,

Living amongst their fellow brothers.

Baby doll toys, playing house times,

Thoughts of some day, wedding bell chimes.

As older they grow and graceful become,

Attributes begin, to make them a mom.

Changes of dress, clothes they wear, modest behavior and braiding of hair.

Noticeable signs of changes within, development stages of motherhood begin.

Gushes and goos over, each little baby, think that someday, well may-be, may-be

Loving to hold a child so dear,

Wiping away each falling tear.

Comforting them, when feeling blue,

Just the things, a mom would do.

O God made special, when He made Eve,

A husbands true helper, a helper indeed .

A wife that would be, at the side of man, just as God meant, in His eternal plan .

So young girls and maidens, moms here today, take heart in your calling, God is your Stay!

Kindly Creator, who chose you to birth, Great God, our Saviour, The Saviour of Earth!

Complete your true task , as mom's you should be,

Examples to others, Christ in you see!

Moms, be that woman, God calls you today!

Walk in His Spirit, He'll lead the way!

Let the witness within you, be a heart that obeys,

Following God's leading, in all of your ways!

Learn to love other's, placed in your trust, Love them, as much as our Lord loveth us.

Mothers and daughters! What a calling divine! Be ye God's servants! Redeeming the time!

Live as true followers, of Jesus your Lord show by your life, what you've learned in His Word.

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, οΏ½Dad, whatοΏ½s this?οΏ½ and I said a poem and she replied οΏ½Dad, thatοΏ½s not a poem , thatοΏ½s a songοΏ½ and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
