Give God An Opportunity

Give God An Opportunity

Give God an opportunity
To reveal Himself to you
Be still and know that He is God
And He watches over you
Find yourself a quiet spot
Away from the bustle of each day
Set your heart in a receptive  mode
And turn to Him and pray

He's not surprised at where you've been
At the hollowness of your being
But He is longing with a loving heart
For He cares about your wellbeing
He knows the weight that sin can bring
The devastation to our soul
The emptiness of prodigalness
He longs to make us whole

There's safety in the arms of Jesus
Those hands that felt the nails
The heart that poured out in love for you
With a love that never fails
The healer of the brokenhearted
The Forgiver of our sin
Desires that we would come to know Him
Today will you let Him in

Let Him be the highlight of your life
Your balm of restoration
Who gives provision in a spiritual way
In the giving of so great Salvation
A broken and a contrite heart
Is precious in His sight
May Godly sorrow and repentance start
To lead you to the Light!

Give God an opportunity
He can turn your life around
You're on the road to victory
If you remain on praying ground
Be still and know that He is God
And He's watching over you
I pray that you will take it to heart
For prayer will see you through!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
