What Saving Power

WHAT SAVING POWER

O what saving power in the blood of the Lamb

The Lamb that for sinner's was slain

It cleanseth us through the washing of His Word

All praise to that glorious name

With love for all mankind He rendered His life

And poured it out there on the cross

An open display of supreme sacrifice

For our sins He suffered the loss

The angels who sang and announced His blest birth

Stood ready to interpose when

Our blessed Redeemer was bearing His cross

But love held them back......amen!

The full brunt of sin He bore willingly

Obedient to His Father above

For as God loved the world so far hither unknown

He gave His own Son that same love

That love that flows freely was bought with a price

An offering that man couldn't make

But God Himself coming in the person of Christ

For He maketh no mistake

That sacrifice given determined in the past

Before ever earth's own foundation

Salvation was planned by the Father, Son and Spirit

This gives my soul cause for elation!

Still that same blood has the power to save

For death could not hold Him at bay

For up from the grave He arose praise the Lord

And took all my sin away

He paid sin's full penalty God was satisfied

That offering for sin stood the test

He just didn't send anyone for the task

But gave us His very Best

For in that birth not tainted with sin

Was the virgin born Lamb..God the Son

What sinless Redeemer in human flesh

Christ and the Father as One

Heaven gave earth a glimpse of that Light

That would bring them... joy and peace

And that same blood still has power to save

And offers us mercy and grace...

To the cross then be swift...bring your burdens there

Lay them all down at His feet

You'll find His blood is sufficient to save

His sacrifice covered your need

Then with thanksgiving praise to that glorious name

That name known in heaven and earth

That name that's above every name that's been named

That name given Jesus at birth....

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
