Lord What A Memory

Lord What A Memory

Lord what a memory You've left us to savor
Up from the grave You arose!
You have defeated the greatest of enemies
That death had over our soul's
And have released a power hitherto not known
The power of the Resurrection!
Yes!... Hallelujah!...Lord You arose!
And have altered my soul's direction!

I tasted the dregs of sin far to long
It tasted like a bitter cup
At first I thought that it tasted so great
But then... that taste gave up
And what an attraction You then became
Although it wasn't Lord... at first glance
But the more that I looked at You my Lord
The greater my thirst was enhanced

When I realized the bankruptcies
That my sin had led me to
How that my soul was bound with brokeness
And emptiness always ensued
Your Word brought it all home to me
Just how much that I was undone
And how You then wrapped life up so gloriously
Through Thy blessed Resurrection!

What a memory with the which to sleep and arise
Hallelujah Christ has arose!
My minds totally absorbed by the very thought of that
He has defeated all of His foes!
His entitlement now is mine
For I'm an heir and joint heir with Christ!
Praise God that I'm now His purchased...prized possession!
Because of Calvary's Sacrifice!

He came for me..  Hallelujah He came!
When I was so caught up in my sin...
To bring me to see His wonderful Salvation!
And how that I could be born again!
And with just what authority has He to give unto me
That greatest of any offering!
Well my friend...all the authority of both earth and in Heaven
For He is!...Its Prophet!...Its Priest!...and praise God hallelujah Its King!!!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
