Honor and Glory

"And to the King of the Universe, incorruptible, unseen, only wise God,
Be honor and glory for ever and ever." 1 Tmothy 1:17

Father,

You are the world's Royal Wield,
Yor are the "invoked One,"
Who never ages, never quits;
Who never retires, never closes. Yes,

Honor and glory are to You always.

You are beyond spoil,
(Our flesh's betrayal).
Your Spine is more durable than rock;
Your Roots outlast all axes, and
Time never grounds You down,
Nor does death swallow You. Yes,

Honor and glory are to You always.

You are God Unseen --
In pain and suffering
You are there, unseen;,
In life's bottoms and shipwrecks
You are there, unseen;
When the Serphent's Head tempts
You are there, unseen, BUT,
Also in my joy and dreams,
You are there, unseen. Yes,

Honor and glory are to You always.

You are a god of Wisdom,
The God of Sight,
The One who sees clear,
Who sees with an unworn knife
That cuts off deceit's fat

In Jesus,
Your Wisdom became flesh and
He graced us with the wheels
For our joufrney. He filled
The missing in our life
With a Wisdom
Carved from Love's stillness. Yes.

Honor and glory are to You always.

Father,

I do not have Your "DNA,"
No, but I am Your child, and
When I accept this, I am warmed, and
Silence fills my soul's cells
Ready to give You honor and glory.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
