Christ's Walkers

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Cor. 5:7

Christ's walkers
Trust not the world's
Hucksters peddling their wares,
Hawking the superficial, but
The cast iron words of Jesus.

Christ's walkers
Journey not with the "seen,"
Barren furrows, slippery and muddy, but
Through the fertile furrows
Ploughed by Jesus,
Seeded by the Spirit.

Christ's walkers
Eye as their pilgrimage's goal,
Not a hollow and straw kingdom, but
The Kingdom of God,
One that stops not for death.

Father,

Faith is a tower,
A very, very high tower, and
When I climb to faith's tower's top,
I see through Your Eyes, and
Surrender.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
