Gift

"Let us approach the throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help
us in time of need." Hebrews 4:16
Father,
You fortify us with grace, Jesus-Grace,
Brave grace, bold grace, favor grace,,
To shield us from the soul's
Dreaded night ravens.
You enrich us with grace, Jesus-Grace --
Leaves for the leafless souls,
Spring for the winter souls, and
Canopy for the weather'd souls.
You gird us with grace, Jesus-Grace,
Your Power-Gift
To defy the brutality of sin, its hell, and not
To wander through the flesh's hostile places.
Father, I pray
To grow a nursery in my soul
Of Jesus-Grace, Ransom-Grace and
Flower with Your Word.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
