Jesus-Seal

"Set me as a seal upon my heart and a seal upon
your arm ...." Song of Solomon 8:6

Father,

When my journey to You
Wanes from wear, I know
Prayer will always feed fresh blood
To my soul's drawn legs.

Also,
When the enemy's words,
Rude, harsh, and barren,
Speak sin to my soul,
Prayer will alwys turn around
This folly to wisdom and
This cold decay to life.

Father,

Let me see prayer
As the wax for the Jesus-Seal,
For He to stamp His Coat of Arms,
The Cross with the Empty Tomb

,And
From this prayer seal,
He will enclose the bounteous gift
Of His Blood-Grace which will
Fill my soul's gap of hunger.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
