Thanksgiving

"Give thanks to the Lord, who is good, whose love
endures forever." Psalm 106:1

I give You thanks, Father,
For to You
I am worth Your Son's execution,
A death marked by scorn,
With nails hammered to the cadence:
"For you, my brother!" "For you,!""For you."

Yes, me!!
My value is His Free Blood for me.

I give You thanks, Father,
For Your Son, Jesus,
Who fills with Light
My soul's darkness,
My soul's hollow,
With the Seeding Light of His Rising --
His Resurrection.

I give You thanks, Father,
For Your Son, Jesus,
Who, THIS MOMENT,
Skies over me rejoicing
With the bright blue of His grace,
His cloudless grace,
As a shield and shelter
From any thinning of my soul.

Father,

Let gratitude
Be my prayer-walk,
Not one glossed with lacquer,
But solid, rock-hard.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
