Everlasting Life

"...as scripture says: What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard
and has not entered into the heart of man, what God has prepared
for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9  (Is 64:4/Sir 1:10)

Father,

The juice of Your Love,
One without sour,
Strained from Your Infinity,
You arrange for me
To savour for etermity.

You wait with joy
To gift me this joy.

A joy no eye has seen, for
Our lightless beams
Reach not beyond our horizon
To You.

A joy no ear has heards, for
Our channels open only
To the babble of the world's surf,
Not the hush of Your Love.

A joy not entered into the heart, for
Our life-fountain flows meekly
To the dance music
Strung on the five cords of the senses.

Father,

I am dust and clay and
Wear spoiled garments;
YET, You prepare for me
A joy,
A love,
With garments of white
Won for us by the Ruby Love
Of Your Son, Jesus.

How can I not be grateful.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
