I Wish I Were a Clown

 Wish I Were a Clown

I wish I were a clown
With magic I'd make the world
Turn upside down.
Then all the folks would have a smile
Instead of frown.
Laughter, long forgotten
Would again become
The joyful sound.

I wish I were a clown
You'd never know
I felt so down.
My painted face would happy be
And never would you ever see
The grief that is as part of me,
Nor sorrows that
My laughter drown.

I wish I were a clown.
Then every day with joy
I'd crown
Each child I see
With thrills of happiness,
And never would I put them down,
And all the kids the
Whole world o'er
I'd put my arms and love around,
If I were just a clown.
