The Time to Say Goodbye
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Eleanor W. Cunningham
Other Poems by Eleanor W. Cunningham

The Time to Say Goodbye

It came too soon
The time to say goodbye
And silver wings lifted you
Into the bright blue sky.
It would have been another day
If we had said
All the things
We wished to say.
'Twas hard to see you go
But though we're miles apart
It's good to know
We're near in heart.

And some day, friend
By God's kind hand
We'll meet again, or
I'll come to be with you
When you fly away into that
Distant Land.
Then at last
We'll have the time
To say the things
That mean so much
To friends,
Who in this world
Can only "keep in touch."
