I Can't Forget

I Can't Forget

I'm looking for a recipe
Something old or new
Just looking in my cookbook
For something tried and true.
Whether it be simple fare
Or a meal you'd call gourmet
I just enjoy my kitchen here
In a humble, grateful way.

But while I'm in my kitchen
Cooking up our favorite dish
I can't forget my Asian sisters
Serve only rice and fish.
And when I serve my family
That meal that's extra-nice,
I can't forget that half the world
Is living off of rice.

In my kitchen there's aplenty,
Food on my shelves abounds
We do not suffer hunger,
There's all we need to go around.
Let's be thoughtful as we toss what's left
Into our trash each day,
For ten million starving people
Could live on what we throw away.
