 Asking

John 16:24
"Until now you have asked nothing in My name.  Ask, and you will receive, that your
joy may be full."

How do we ask?
Like a child in a candy shop, for everything that's seen?
Like a man 'fore a firing squad, plying one last plea?
A parent, for a job, in economy that's slumped?
Teen girls at the mall, for newest, awesome pumps?

Like a junkie at the bottom, for one more chance at life?
A prodigal in Sodom impaled on Satan's knife?
A mother for her child, for years of holding close?
Or elder at the end, begging Charon's boat?

On deeper thought we might request a single drop of wine,
A vintage brought to light by a river crossing Vine,
Who came across to bear our cross, God's gift to all who seek,
Established back in Glory, He waits now our entreat.
