If All Convened Who Wrote the Word  (villanelle)

If all convened who wrote the Word,

In whom His Spirit did invest,

Would they, in tea, take sugar stirred?

Ones who in their time conferred

High hidden truth might brew reject

If all convened who wrote the Word.

Honored guests disinterred,

Plucked from cultures crumpet-less,

Would they, in tea, take sugar stirred?

More inclined to manna, curd,

Chinese nectar might perplex

If all convened who wrote the Word.

Wouldst liketh they King James verbs

Shouldst royal language be expressed,

Wouldst they, in tea, take sugar stirred?

Methinks my dream has only served

To raise a brow when asked in jest,

"If all convened who wrote the Word

Would they, in tea, take sugar stirred?"
