Thinking About San Bernardino at Christmas

Savagery lurks beneath facades,

Naked angst with clothes,

Enmity stalks, thirsty, craving

Jugular exposed.

Modern jungle thrives beneath

Placid, rippling days,

Fangs forever ready,

Sharpened, glistening, splayed.

Camoed twisted ideologue,

Unnoticed 'til too late,

Explodes...naught left but carnage,

Questions, drenched precocious graves.

Child of God, in Whom you trust,

Be sober in your cheer,

Peace on Earth, eventually, yes,

But Hark!...there's Evil here.
