Message to Fellow Poets

A poet should keep their mind open,
life simple and poems short.

If a poet observes nature, like a child
full of curiosity, his imagination will
sing in his poetry.

It is not the number of words in a poem
that matters it is the sentiment of a few.

A poet's duty is to stand guard on the
written word.

To find the lasting value of poetry look
into the scriptures and read...
the Psalms of David.

A true poet finds the beauty in making
lasting pictures with words.

Don't forget to read some poems, then
sit still and write some of your own.

(note:  I have been writing poetry for many
years and have given Creative Poetry classes,
Poetry work shops and Poetry readings to
all ages. My youngest students were in grade
school. My oldest student was a retired doctor
who wanted to experience peace through poetry.)

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
