   Acceptance, Security and Love

As a child sometimes I felt
like an ugly duckling.
I was very short for my age,
sickly and was not expected to live.

As a child with Asthma and pnemonia,
I was absent much of time in school
I spent most of the time in bed.
I prayed and prayed that God would
make me well.

Even as a child in God's love, I felt
accepted and secure.
Over the years, I did gain strength,
regained my health, and went on
to become a bride and mother.

In my heart, I've never grown up.
Asthma and allergies still bother me.
But...I'll not forget that first year in school
I give thanks to God for His love, security,
And acceptance still today.

"His love endures forever." (Psalm 136:1 through 26)

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
