Old Willow Tree

       Old Willow Tree

Old willow,
how many
people have
sought shade
under your
low hanging branches?

How many birds
have nestled up
in your high branches?
How many squirrels
have scampered up
your large old trunk?

I see lightening
struck your trunk, but...
you  survived.
Old willow, like you,
I've been through
storms in my life.
And like you...
I have survived.

"Everything comes from God alone. Everything lives
by His power, and everthing for His Glory." (Romans 11:36)

About the Poet
Born on October 24, 1939, I was one of seven children. I am now a mother of seven grown children, grandmother of 18, widow, and writer for the past 50 years mostly poetry. Day care provider of many years, now retired. Three poetry books published, but no longer in print, several little poem books self published. Published in local newspapers, several magazines and daily devotionals. My faith, family and writing poetry has brought me thus far.
