Settling the Score

a triquatrain

Foundation's blight, concealed from sight,
some structures tilt like Pisa's tower.
A heavy weight, God's plumb line's straight,
some buildings boast of self-styled power.

He loosed the knot, He cursed his lot
and now He's tangled up in doubt.
Is fate his fault? His guilt is salt
in wounds of how things have worked out.

Is he a fraud? Does he trust God?
Does cursing argue loss of faith?
He went too long in righting wrong,
revenge appeared as payback's wraith.

God's Word hangs true; his tends to skew
when pride and self got in the way.
It's hard to kick against the prick
of conscience-nudging kept at bay.

David basked in sin he had masked,
repentance came, he faced the facts.
In mercy's plan, like him we can
pure faith from consequence extract.

Fate is God's choice, His Word, my voice,
though understanding fails my eyes.
In sett'ling scores, there's so much more
than vengeance which His love decries.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
