Then Spoke Our Lord
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

Then Spoke Our Lord

Then spoke our Lord upon the scene

in a world of sheep gone astray.

His talk is truth, somewhat pristine

for thoughtless people of the day.

A taxman listened from a tree;

then spoke our Lord upon the scene

“Zacchaeus, come on down, I’m free

to be your guest, with friends unseen.”

The Temple sullied by routine

where greedy merchants sold their ware.

Then spoke our Lord upon the scene

“My Father’s house - a house of prayer.”

A guilty one laments his plea;

forbearing words will intervene

with “Simon, feed my sheep for me”

then spoke our Lord upon the scene.

Then spoke our Lord upon the scene

in a world of sheep gone astray.

His talk is peace to those who lean

in faith on Him who marks the Way.

Contrite the thief, One paid his price -

then spoke our Lord upon the scene.

“Today we’ll meet in Paradise,”

The cross held hope yet unforeseen.

An officer with mind so keen

perceived God has remote control.

Then spoke our Lord upon the scene

“Go home! believe, your slave is whole.”

A storm at sea obeyed his will

the wind and waves became serene -

Those simple words of “Peace, be still”

then spoke our Lord upon the scene.

Still speaks our Lord to us today

the words of loving truth and peace.

Our deepest ears take note, obey

and pray His words will never cease.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
