Gold at the End of the Rainbow

Gold at the End of the Rainbow
dedicated to Everett Christian, who's more than OK

Simple is the reminder in Genesis 9
the rainbow that we see in the cloud -
a sign from God to man that He honors His Word.

Of the six, yea seven things God hates
recorded in Proverbs 6:16,
deception is listed not once but twice.

Balaam uttered no truer, no finer words
than these taken from Numbers 23,
"God is not a man that He should lie."

We all need to mark out a rainbow,
a singular pledge made first to ourselves -
"My good word will be 18-carat gold."

 written by Reason A. Poteet

There's a common expression: His word is as good

as gold.  Why not 24-karat gold?

Some argue that 18 carat is best, because anything less

than 18 carat (75% pure gold) is too prone to tarnish,

and with more than 18 carat the final gold product

will lose its durability.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
