THIMBLERIG

Tomorrow
was too late. My remorse
of yesterday, I hid under blame.

Yesterday
she left without warning.
Second chance regret now has no aim.

Today brought
empty shells of sorrow,
relocation in the wake of shame.

Day by day
seek forgiveness before
misplaced reproach triggers a shell game.

a "pdc" written by Reason A. Poteet

a "pdc"  is a parallelogram de cystalline, fancy, smancy name for a poem of four stanzas.  Each stanza has three lines with increasing syllables, 3, 6, 9.  Rhyme is not required and neither is meter.  Fancy name, simple to write.  Mine was written for reparing relationships, not limited to romantic involvement, and not excluding any association among people.  Forgive now before it's too late.

Thimblerig is a guessing game of hiding an object under three shells and then switching the shells around before your partner discovers which shell houses the object.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
