Thy Will Be Done

a triquatrain for the

National Day of Prayer, May 1, 2008

Our Father God, I find it odd
in our national year
to fix one day on which to pray.
But still I hold it dear.

Jesus my Lord, I’ll join the horde
of worshippers this day
who ask of Thee in honesty
please guide the U.S.A.

My Father God, as I have trod
this nation of my birth
I’ve seen good health, I’ve seen much wealth
and yes, I’ve seen the dearth.

Our Savior, hear, as we come near
to choose new leadership.
Bless what You’ve planned for our great land;
hold us in your firm grip.

Break thru the wall of all who call
on You in faith to act.
Teach us our part, touch ev’ry heart,
fill us with what we’ve lacked.

And now in peace, prayers ne’r to cease
Father, forgive our sin.
Help us to pray on each new day
Thy will be done, Amen.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
