We Lift Up Our God

We Lift Up Our God

We lift up our eyes to the One whose throne is in heaven,
The eyes of slaves looking to the face of the Master,
Eyes searching for our Creator.
And...He uncovers his will and his way.

We lift up our ears to the One whose home is within us,
The ears of students listening for a call from the Teacher,
Ears straining to hear the voice of the Spirit.
And...He tells us of help and hope.

We lift up our souls to the One who forgives and heals,
The souls of sinners begging for a Physician,
Souls shifting from doubt to trust in Jesus.
And...He reveals light and life.

We lift up our hands to the One whose hands were pierced,
The hands of surrender raising to honor the Victor,
Hands stretching up to God in commitment to Christ.
And...He gives us peace and purpose.

We lift up our voices to the One who alone is worthy,
The voice of the saved praising their Savior.
Voices shouting, “Thank You!” to the Almighty One.
And...He welcomes us with grace and glory.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
