Choice Questions

A person’s right to choose I honor;

but questions revolve around timing

The right time to find the bucket is

beforefore we begin the priming.

We can’t wait until caught on radar

to decide we’ll put on the brakes.

We can’t alter answers on a test

after they’ve been marked as mistakes.

The right to choose against parent-hood

must occur before conception.

Reverse the order and we will find

the questions turn to perception.

“If it’s not born yet, it’s not murder.”

“What’s the big deal, it’s just tissue.”

“It’s my body, and I will decide.”

“I don’t want it; that’s the issue.”

When such views tag immoral choices

human life soon loses its worth.

Martyrs by the millions fill God’s throne

attesting life’s end before birth.

The questions now ask for amendment.

How to avoid life’s tragic waste?

This answer does not easily come

when selfish values have been embraced.

Parallel concerns come to my mind.

Jesus, our Savior, came as a Child

gave up His life, though it seemed to some

by a force-driven world gone wild.

God has a plan for each life He forms.

Christ willingly followed God’s choice,

offered His life to redeem others.

Dare we do less while we have voice?

We can’t wait until Christ comes again

or ‘til death moves in to sever.

The time is now to walk in Christ’s steps

Choose life – both now and forever.

Remembering the decision made 35 years ago in Roe v. Wade, I extol the forgiveness and example our Savior, Jesus Christ gave in making choices.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
