To Be Read with Prayer

Pick the Bible up most emphatically
Open it with a willing mind and heart
Read it with prayer

It is not a book to be studied like history
Or used as a recipe book for life's meal
But as a love letter from the Father

Immerse yourself in its pagaentry
Let it immerse you in God's Spirit
Read it with prayer

Fix it indelibly on your soul
Let it's message engulf you
Lead you to praise

Walk by its precepts
Keep in step with its message
"The Just shall live by faith"

To Be Read with Prayer(c)2007 Quentin Clingerman
