Pedestal

Man of dust you cannot set
one planet in motion,
design a single snowflake
or calm a raging ocean.

You've never made the sun set
or rise at break of day,
commanded the rain to fall,
or chased the wind away!

Not a blade of grass created,
nor one vibrant wildflower,
yet you have the audacity
to deny God's awesome power!

You raise your fist toward heaven
in defiance of God's will,
and wonder why the world
is spiraling downhill!

You sit on your high horse
thinking you're so smart,
blind to the condition
of your wicked heart.

Your puny mortal body
will eventually decay,
and your spirit will perish
if God's word you don't obey.

You reject Almighty God
and His glorious creation,
replacing His holy word
with man-made fabrications.

Yet God in His goodness
made eternal preparation
when Christ died on the cross
to secure your salvation.

A tragic day is coming
when you'll finally see
YOU are on the pedestal
where only God should be!

Matthew 4:10 ...For it is written... "You shall worship your God, and Him only you shall serve."

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
