You Grow You Know

You Grow You Know

You grow you know
when the greys in your hair
dont need to hide
when you can safely abide
In old loves lost
In graceful moments past
And you savour the faint aromas
They left behind;
And they grow sweeter each day.

You grow you know
That the gentle face of tomorrow
Is a figment of your imagination
As wispy as your yesterdays
As fragile as your nows.
And you gather their seeds
You kept in a gossamer bag
Behind the last shelf of your mind
And you scatter them
In the garden of your children.

You grow you know
When you last cried
It was only a child that never knew.
And all the while, your soul stood smiling
Behind you

You grow you know
when Life and Truth, Piety and
Honesty and all those people-binding words
Mean nothing in the face of Love.
For all humans are creatures of circumstance
And you and they
Really are
More than just people.
You grow you know.
