The First Pair

The First Pair

One day the Lord said:
"Adam, you need 'the gentler touch' ~
Someone to aid you in your work
In naming beasts and such.

"So I'll create a woman,
And she'll be your helpmeet;
She'll give more meaning to your life
And make you feel complete.

"I'll make her spirit sweeter,
And soften her a bit;
I'll give her heart some extra warmth
And love before I quit.

"And as the seasons come and go,
You'll find she grows more dear;
She'll be more precious in your eyes
With each new passing year.

"And you must seek to please her,
And keep the romance fresh;
For she will be bone of your bones,
And the flesh of your flesh."

And that's how it first started,
That's how it all began:
God made a woman that same day,
And gave her to the man.

So each year you're together,
You both should say a prayer ~
To thank the good Lord up above
For making that First Pair.

"And the Lord God fashioned into a woman
the rib which He had taken from the man,
and brought her to the man."
(Genesis 2:22, NASB)

About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
