Through the Eyes of a Child

Jesus said,
"Let the little children
come to Me,
and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God
belongs to such as these..."
(Mark 10:14, NIV)

THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD

It was built in the back of Dad Heck's place
In the days when I hadn't a care ~
A playhouse, but fit for a Princess, it was,
And play-things were *real* to me there!

O, make-believe turned into *magic*, it did,
As I'd pick up each dolly to hold ~
And I'd constantly pause in my housecleaning chores
When it came time to "love" or to "scold".

When the make-believe clock whispered, "It's lesson-time,"
I'd scribble long lines on a pad ~
And at dinner I'd bake just the bestest mudcake
Any taste-testing judge *ever* had!

Just-pretend-time was the rule of the day,
And I'm sure that the Lord must've smiled ~
As He and His angels, while watching me play,
Saw the world through the eyes of a child.

"I tell you the truth,
anyone who will not receive
the kingdom of God like a little child
will never enter it."

(Mark 10:15, NIV)

About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
