Raise the Curtain

New Dawn
New Day
New Year!

We do not live in a perfect world
And we can't predict its future
But we can confront some of its needs now.

If each of us does one small part
These many pieces will come together
Beome whole and make a difference.

Perhaps a cure for all disease
Total elemination of war
Maybe no more hungry children
Or homeless people.
And our voice can echo across
The land to wipe out bigotry, hate and  prejudice.

No, our world will never be perfect
But even with its problems as many
As the grains of sand on a beach
When the crutain slowly rises
And we see the rain wash the earth clean
And the magic colors of the rainbow appear
It's possible we will realize the wonder
And beauty of the world and a --
     New Dawn
     New Day
     New Year
Will be born to fill us with hope
And a promise for tomorrow.

About the Poet
I still have 4 grandsons and love to write. Although it hasn't been easy (nothing worth while ever is), on June 1 Floyd and I will celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary.
